Summer is right around the corner. You can already feel the increasing heat across on your skin and the warm breeze ruffling your hair. All of this is a telltale of the coming of blazing hot and lazy summer days where, in the afternoon, there is not much to do but to doze off while watching mindless television.
Exams are right around the corner, and with passing time, stress levels are rising steadily for you and your children. Tensions are high, almost as high as the pile of books to study. As parents, we fret and nag and hover but the ones actually stressing are our kids.
There is immense pressure on their tiny shoulders. They want to pass their exams and get good marks not only for themselves but for you. They want to make you proud and in most cases, this is one of the main causes of stress.
Grandparents hold a very high place in our family and society. As the elders of the family, we look at them for advice, guidance, and blessings. It might sound clichéd, but they hold the family together. When they stay with you, it’s like you have another set of parents. They love you, care for you, protect you, and teach you valuable things.
Where are your kids now? Are they in front of the television watching cartoons? In the tuition class perhaps, learning abacus or Kumon? Or playing a computer game?
How much do they really play using their limbs and expending energy? As a nation, we overemphasize academic education at the cost of physical training!
